Bad Service

Today both of my children happily brought in and handed me report cards. I was very pleased with my daughters all A's. Yea she is only in 1st grade but it shows she gave her best. Now my son the other hand is just not giving it his all in 4th grade I know it is a little harder than 3rd but come on already, All C's now I know it is average but I know he is just not putting in his all or his 100%. So what should I do I help him everyday with his homework I try to help him understand what the teacher is teaching and this is how he shows us he's smart. Ok all of that for another rant another day. I decide to take the kiddos for a dinner at a 50's themed hamburger shop"Schoops" here in town, for there efforts and hard work this semester in school. So we arrive kinda early for their dinner rush in which we wait to be seated. There are 4 waitresses standing at the counter for the bar huddled up like in a foot ball game probably talking about the shoes they just bought or they boys they like in school. We wait for approximately 15 minutes with no acknowledgement so I speak up and ask "Do we seat ourselves?" One young maybe 17 year old teenie bopper turns and replies "yep" and turns back around to her associates. So we seat our selves well actually my daughter picked a nice spot by the window. Before we have taken our jackets off and sat down here comes a different Teen with no patience and no courtesy. " So what would you like?" I 'm thinking to my self to take my damn jacket off and to look at the fricken menu. But instead I replied coffee for me and then the kids both spoke up, My Daughter says first I just love your glasses.(They were really cool). OK here is where I at least expected a thank you or something She then replies do you know what you want to eat yet. Well can you give us a couple of minutes please? She turns with no reply and walks away. I take my jacket off and set down the kids take their jackets off and set down I immediately handed them both menus. My daughter is picky so I was helping her read the menu when I was handed a three hour old cup of coffee with an oily residue on top. " So what do you want to eat?" Do you not see us looking over the menu still I think to my self. So i ask for a few more minutes I mean we stood at the door longer than this. Then 2 minutes to the second she was back rushing us again. The kids then ordered their food as so did I. I drank my nasty coffee in great hopes of receiving a fresh cup soon. Choking with every sip. I have a great view of the coffee pots from where I am Sitting. A little small talk goes on. 25 minutes later our food arrives at the table and so does our check. No coffee refill still, in which my cup has been sitting at the edge of the table for ten minutes. So as we are eating our very unattractive and messy burgers, My daughter starts complaining this is the worst burger ever it is falling apart. She immediately drops her head and starts picking I knew then it was just a nightmare. So I take a good look at her burger then mine and realize the cook is as smart as a ten year old when he/she assembled these burgers he placed the lettuce on top of the greasy burger in which it made a slip in slide for the rest of the toppings on our burgers. So I tried with no avail to reassemble the burgers but the damage was already done. Wet soggy bed, toppings falling off to one side while the meat was sliding the other way. My daughter is now refusing to eat the fries. they are hurting her teeth. I ask my self How can fries hurt your teeth, i then tried one of mine and they seemed to have been hard and crunchy, more than tortilla chips. From my own experiences working in a restaurant when i was younger that comes from cooking them twice! So i told my daughter to just try and eat something. So we continue sitting and trying to eat this mess. Mind you my coffee is still empty. The restaurant has 4 Tables of customers, Five waitresses, a dish person, and a cook. My kids are needing refills by now because they had small 6 oz cups with lids. So I motion over our waitress and I ask for refills for the kids and soda for my self obviously I'm not getting any more coffee. She grabs my check off the table and runs over to the computer prints up another receipt and brings it to our table. Of course No drinks in tow. She lays down the receipt and goes to get drink or to do something. While we finish eating our mess with forks we finally get our drinks. My daughter finishes half of her burger and refuses to try any more saying ill just eat at home. I am holding in all my fury because i do not want to teach my children it is Ok to gripe people out. Thinking I will just call the manager tomorrow while the kids are in school. So we wrap up clean our messes up and want a box for my daughters sandwich. in which we wait and wait and wait some more to be exact 17 minutes after we are done eating. We were never checked on to see if every thing was OK, asked if we wanted desert or anything. So i stand up and walk to the counter and ask a girl who just recently came in for a to go box. I asked the kids to put their jackets on and lets go we had been there for over an hour now and the service was not getting any better. I had not seen our waitress in a good 35 to 45 minutes we walk to the check out and i had counted out a dollar to much, the girl at the counter asks me if the dollar i took off the top of the pile was for the waitress. I said Yes but i think she has left. In return she said I can take it. I quickly reply never mind and left. All the way home I thought about turning around and going in there and telling the manager a few things or two but instead i kept my composure and thought about just letting the world know how bad there service is.

a Few notes for restaurant owners, cooks, and waitstaff.

1. Always be personable,friendly,prompt

2. Coffee drinkers like their cups refilled at least once every 15 minutes or so
your cups are small to save you money the coffee gets cold in them quick.

3. Never ask for another waitress's money. We all know you live on these tips and most of you have children and a dollar goes a long way.

4. If you do not apply your self and wait your tables do not expect a tip

5. ALWAYS BE COURTEOUS if you get a compliment thank the person.

6. Have you ever heard of Service with a Smile.

7. Never recook Fries it wastes your food and our money. Simply DON'T WASTE

8. We go to restaurants to be waited on. Get It Waiter / Waitress OMG It's SPELLED THE SAME must mean something.

9. A burger is to be assembled in an easy fashion lay bun open, on bottom bun goes the meat with cheese if wanted, then smaller meats i.e. bacon, on top bun goes lettuce, tomatoes, onions, then ketchup, mayo, & Mustard then put bottom and top together and place on plate. The Cheese or the rough surface of the meat will help keep toppings in place and not on your hands and clothes.

if by following these simple steps you are not making good tips then please quit and find a new damn job.

When I was a waitress I made better money than most, But if I did not like the looks of what was on the plate I wouldn't serve it. A couple of times it made the cook mad and they told me to cook it myself in which i did and I received a better tip for it for making it perfect.
